Endometriotic cysts, also known as endometriomas or chocolate cysts, are a type of ovarian cyst that forms when endometrial tissue, which normally lines the inside of the uterus, grows outside of the uterus. This tissue can implant and grow on the ovaries, forming cysts filled with old blood, giving them a characteristic dark, "chocolate" appearance.
Endometriotic cysts are typically associated with endometriosis, a condition where endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus, leading to inflammation, scarring, and pain. These cysts can cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, especially during menstruation, painful intercourse, irregular bleeding, and infertility,
